Interested in beekeeping but not sure where to start? Join us for our series on Beekeeping for Beginners, an introduction to the essentials of starting your own hive! This series will be led by a local beekeeper who has learned through trial and error, experiencing both the challenges and rewards of the art and science of backyard beekeeping. They will share their mistakes and accomplishments during their first years of beekeeping and help you to learn everything you need to know to get started, from choosing the right equipment and setting up a hive to understanding bee behavior and maintaining a healthy colony.  Whether you're looking to harvest your own honey or support local pollinators, these sessions will give you the knowledge and confidence to begin your beekeeping journey. Learn  from a five year beekeeper who learned the hard way and can share the heartbreaks and accomplishments of this wonderful hobby. Perfect for beginners—no prior experience required!

This Session Includes:

  • When and how to harvest honey
  • Processing and storing honey safely
  • Other hive products: beeswax, propolis, royal jelly, and pollen
  • Ethical and sustainable beekeeping practices
