Untia Bigelow started out as a volunteer for Wicomico Public Library in 2012 and was quickly hired as the ESL Assistant Director that same year. As an AmeriCorps volunteer she also served as the coordinator of an after-school program in partnership with the Pittsville Branch.
Over time, Untia has worked in almost every department of Wicomico Public Library. She enjoyed getting to know library members at the circulation desk for years, and especially enjoyed working with families in the children’s department.
In 2015 she became the volunteer coordinator for the library and has loved working with the community as well as the Friends of the Wicomico Public Library organization to support their volunteer needs. Her motto is simply this: volunteerism is the heart at work for others!
