Salisbury Book Festival

A 2-month series of events inspiring children and adults to read! Join us for these fun, family friendly events!

April 6, 2017, 6:00 - 7:30 pm – Wild about Reading evening at the Salisbury Zoo. A free, fun night where children learn about zoo animals through literacy and arts & crafts. Registration Form

April 7, 2017 – 5:00 pm - Race For Wellness & Literacy. A 5K race/1K fun walk sponsored by the Wicomico County Board of Education. Entry fee, registration required, can register day of the race.

April 20 – May 20, 2017 - Ernie Bond Memorial Book Drive. In multiple locations throughout Wicomico County. We will be collecting new & gently used books and donations. Books will be distributed through local non-profits and the public schools. Click here to see a list of all Book Drive drop off locations.

April 22, 2017 – 8:30 am – 3:30 pm – SU Children’s and Young Adult Literature Festival. On the campus of Salisbury University. Celebrating the memory of Dr. Ernie Bond. Features ten authors and illustrators, three discussion panels, and the presentation of the inaugural Sonia Lynn Sadler Diverse Illustrator Award. Registration fee, registration required.

April 22 & 23 – Barnes & Noble Book Fair – benefits the Ernie Bond Memorial Book Drive.

May 2017 - Salisbury Reads – A Community Reads program encouraging everyone to read and discuss the same book. Limited free copies available from all Wicomico Public Libraries locations. 2017 Title – The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead

May 20, 2017 – 10:00 am – 4:00 pm - Book Lovin’ Block Party – Free, one-day fair in Downtown Salisbury. Find out all the fun that you can have reading. Includes storytelling, celebrity readers, performers, animals, craft & book vendors, authors, publishers, food, and a virtual reality experience.
