Senior Circulation Assistant I - Full Time

Reports to: Circulation Manager

Job Summary:
Supervises the Circulation Department in the absence of the Circulation Manager. Schedules staff, handles Interlibrary Loans, and provides circulation related customer services as part of the Circulation staff.

Essential Functions:
1. Schedules full-time and part-time staff to cover all shifts for Circulation Desk
2. Assists in setting priorities for on and off desk tasks
3. Oversees clerical responsibilities associated managing member accounts including data entry, billing, reserves, and interlibrary loan
4. Oversees operations of cash drawer and public photo copier
5. Assists in supervising volunteers assigned to the circulation department
6. Processes Inter-Library Loan material
7. Checks materials in/out and renews library material
8. Handles cash/credit transactions and is accountable for cash drawer set-up
9. Answers phone and directs calls
10.Prepares books and materials for re-shelving onto book carts 11.Empties book drop bins
12.Troubleshoots copier in public area
13. Handles special individual jobs as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail with exceptional accuracy. Ability to interact with the public and staff in a professional manner, providing excellent experiences for all library visitors. Able to work in a computer-based environment and assist training others.

Specialized knowledge, licenses, etc.: None

Education and Experience:
1. High school diploma or equivalency
2. Library experience
3. Supervisory experience preferred

Physical and Environmental Conditions:
Positions based in Main Library. Ability to reach, bend, lift up to 30 pounds in non- strenuous work positions and/or continual standing or walking at least 60 percent of the time.
